The best news all year: Web Innovator Laszlo Systems Unveils Open Source Strategy for Rich Client Platform.

I've been an advocate of open source here and this move by Laszlo will lay the foundation for a real Web 2.0. The internet was built on open source and continues to run on primarily open source technologies.

Laszlo has taken the bold step of proving that we are committed to building the "Next Generation Internet" by open sourcing the platform that makes it possible. Other platform companies spend so much of theit time trying to prove that they have the technology to change the world. Now that the platform is open we can get to the real work of building out those apps.

Just my humble opinion.
